Leave a Legacy

Leave a legacy of a lifetime

A bequest is a meaningful way to create a legacy of music for future generations.

Gifts are invested in the NZSO Foundation Endowment Fund, generating income to provide ongoing support to the NZSO. Your gift will help the NZSO build on its mission of sharing inspiring musical experiences with all New Zealanders.

If you have a specific area within the NZSO that you'd like your bequest to support, please get in touch. We're keen to understand what's important to you, and we can then provide suggestions on how your gift can best assist the NZSO in achieving its mission.

How to leave a bequest

Your gift can be stated in your will or codicil.

The following wording is suggested for leaving a gift to the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Foundation

I give to the NZSO Foundation Trust Board (% of estate, the residue of my estate, or sum of money, or description of property or assets) for general purposes, for which the receipt of an authorised officer of the Foundation shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.

  • You should consult your legal advisor when making a will or adding a codicil to your existing will to ensure it represents your wishes

  • If your assets are held in a Family Trust, you may give your Trustees a simple Memorandum of Wishes stating that on your death, you wish the Trustees to make a gift to the NZSO Foundation. Your Memorandum can describe the gift in a similar way to that set out above for a will.
